After the success of its previous instalments, Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) is returning this year with more exciting events and exhibitions benefiting industry players, investors, innovators, academics and SMEs!
The 7th SDEC will take place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 6 to 9 October 2022 with the theme ‘Sustainable Digitalisation Towards a Net-Zero Future’.
What is SDEC about?
SDEC is an event that brings together industry leaders, academics, SMEs, as well as public and private sector players to delve into the mechanics of existing and future smart city, digital economy frameworks and solutions.
Hosted by the Selangor state government, SDEC is organised by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022.
The objectives of the Convention are:
- To spearhead the digital transformation of Selangor as ASEAN’s digital hub.
- To act as a platform for local industry players to engage and discuss new normal and emerging trends.
- To strengthen and grow the Selangor digitalisation ecosystem for SMEs.
This is what you can expect from SDEC 2022
#1 Learn about smart city solutions at the Asian Smart City Conference

The 2-day conference will see mayors, experts and representatives across industries coming together to share their experience and expertise pertaining to smart city and digitalisation.
Day one’s Mayors Summit will see mayors from cities around the world—including countries such as Australia, South Korea and Thailand—sharing their knowledge, experiences and approaches to resolve city liveability challenges through smart technologies.
Representing Malaysia is Menteri Besar Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who’s also the Guest of Honour.
On the second day, 24 experts will exchange ideas during the Net-Zero and Circular Economy Forum. The speakers are experts from various industries such as smart mobility and zero-emission vehicles; smart waste and river management; solar, biofuel and biomass energy; smart cloud and data governance; smart technologies for energy; and, green investment and financing.
#2 Drive your business at the Selangor SME Digitalisation Conference

If you own a small or medium-sized business, don't miss this session as you’ll get to learn more about the importance of SME digitalisation. The conference, which will be held on October 8, provides a platform for SMEs to discuss and share best practices regarding digitalisation.

#3 Watch as fashion startups make their pitch at the Selangor Fashion Accelerator Demo Day

If you’re an aspiring fashion entrepreneur or love fashion in general, mark 8 October in your calendar because it’s Selangor Fashion Accelerator Demo Day!
In case you missed it, the Selangor Fashion Accelerator 2022 programme with the theme of ‘Modest Fashion’ is a two-month intensive programme for Malaysian startups and SMEs, aiming to create a sustainable ecosystem for talent in the modest fashion sector.
During the Demo Day, selected candidates—out of its top 16—will be given an opportunity to pitch their brand and business to prospective investors and industry partners. It’s pretty much a fashion version of the business reality series, Shark Tank!
#4 Be a part of the 4-day Livestream Festival
There’s something new at SDEC this year—a livestream festival! Driving the growing demand for e-commerce in the country, a livestream studio will be set up in the middle of the exhibition hall, where selected merchants from the Malaysia Top E-Commerce (Top ECM) Awards will be conducting their livestreams.
