Borders are going to open for Malaysians going to Singapore and vice versa! However, it’s not for ‘vacay’ of any sorts.
The countries have agreed to allow cross-border travelling for compassionate reasons, such as visiting loved ones who are critically ill or have died. You can do so starting May 17th, 2021.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan and Hishammuddin Hussein announced it in a joint statement on Sunday (May 2nd). The “Death and Critically Ill Emergency Visits” arrangement details and entry requirements would be released by the respective immigration authorities of each country subsequently.
The ministers have also agreed on working towards opening borders for travelling in a gradual and a safe manner, depending on the COVID-19 situation in both countries.
That’s a consolation for anyone who’s really trying to meet a loved one who’s ill. Meanwhile, let’s abide by the rules and regulations set by the government and continue lending a helping hand in flattening the curve, instead of trying to come up with ‘fake’ reasons to travel.
Please stay safe!
