It’s near the end of the year, and you know what that means: SALE. It also means that you’ll be following your girlfriend or wife to her shopping spree (Unless she’s fine with going on her own. We respect an independent woman).
If you thought you had a choice... no, not really. You don’t want to face a woman’s wrath when snubbed!
Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Here are some helpful tips for you to survive your shopping trip:
#1 Make an effort to look interested
Your partner will ask for your opinions. Show that you’re interested, and if you’re clueless about this whole shopping deal, just put on a thoughtful look on your face, go “Hmmm” and say something. Seeing her happy will make you feel good. You don’t want to walk around with a grumpy face all the time! That just spoils the mood for everyone.
#2 Prepare yourself mentally…
Shopping mall sales are something else. Imagine this: crowds of people trying to get the best items and long queues at the cashier. You need a strong will to get through this for the love of your life, so before the day itself make sure you’ve given yourself a pep talk. It’s going to be over once you’ve swiped that card.
#3 … and maybe physically too
Get ready to stand and walk for a long time. You’ll also be helping your partner carry around a lot of stuff while she browses for items and maybe try out a gazillion clothes. If this isn’t the type of workout you’re used to, it’s time to start building up your stamina for the big shopping day.
#4 Be a gentleman!
You’re accompanying her to shop, not the other way around. Make the effort of helping her out with her things, and when she looks exhausted, offer her a bottle of water. This is your chance to prove to her that you’re all in (again, we don’t want you to face the wrath of a snubbed woman).
#5 It’s about joining in, not isolating yourself
Who said shopping has to be all about her? You could have things you want to buy too. And it helps if your partner is around to give you advice on price comparisons and the quality of the item.
#6 Communication is key
Just like any other couple trying to survive a huge crowd of shoppers, communication is important. If you’re feeling exhausted and hungry, convey this to your partner instead of sulking about it. It’s perfectly reasonable to take a break, and she’d understand it too!
