Evergreen Marine Corp., the Taiwanese shipping giant, has made waves in Malaysia after announcing a generous 20-month year-end bonus for its employees. The company’s outstanding performance in 2024 has made this substantial reward possible.

In the third quarter alone, Evergreen reported consolidated revenue of NT$152.79 billion (roughly RM20.85 billion), reflecting a remarkable 109.84% growth compared to the previous year. Net profit after tax also saw a staggering increase, reaching NT$61.91 billion (around RM8.45 billion), a 182.60% jump, with earnings per share (EPS) hitting NT$28.75 (approximately RM3.92).

For the first three quarters of 2024, Evergreen’s cumulative revenue totaled NT$347.76 billion (approximately RM47.56 billion), with net profit reaching NT$108.75 billion (roughly RM14.84 billion). This represents an annual growth of 67.98% in revenue and an impressive 239.40% increase in profit.

Evergreen has long been known for its generous bonus scheme. In 2021, employees were awarded a massive 40 months' worth of bonuses, which increased to an extraordinary 45–50 months in 2022, thanks to record-breaking profits.
However, last year, as the shipping market slowed down, bonuses were reduced to a more modest 4–6 months.

With the addition of this year’s 20-month bonus, Evergreen’s employees have received nearly 120 months’ worth of bonuses over the past four years—a remarkable feat that showcases the company’s commitment to rewarding it's hard working staff.
