Malaysia's fifth Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, will be buried on Tuesday (April 15) at Makam Pahlawan, the national heroes’ mausoleum located at Masjid Negara.

His son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, confirmed the details at a press conference held at the National Heart Institute (IJN), where he revealed that the late statesman passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
“His body will be brought to his home in Kuala Lumpur before being taken to Masjid Negara tomorrow morning,” said Khairy. “From 11am to 1pm, the public will be allowed to pay their final respects in the main prayer hall.”

He added that the burial will follow after 1pm and that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had approved the interment at Makam Pahlawan. Khairy also advised that non-Muslim visitors who wish to attend should dress respectfully.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Khairy expressed gratitude to IJN staff for their care. “All his loved ones, including his wife, were with him. Pak Lah left us calmly. We thank everyone at IJN for ensuring his final moments were peaceful.”
