whistleblowers praised for reporting covid-19 vaccine queue jumping attempts

Whistleblowers have been praised for alerting the government to individuals who are trying to jump the queue for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The National Immunisation program’s coordinating minister says among others, it has received complaints that vaccination centers are administering unused doses to non-priority individuals.

As such, Khairy Jamaluddin says these facilities have been ordered to distribute any extra doses to other centers, to ensure they are given to eligible recipients under the program’s first phase.

He adds that they have also cancelled all vaccination appointments of individuals who are not frontliners.

The government is on track to achieve its target of vaccinating over 570,000 frontliners during the first phase of the National COVID-19 Immunisation program.

Its coordinating minister says nearly 140,000 people have already received their first shot of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Khairy Jamaluddin says people will be able to use MySejahtera to register their dependents for the vaccine, starting on Friday.

He hopes that this will lead to even more people signing up for the jab.

So far, 3.8 million people have registered via the app.
