3,170 interstate travel-related Covid-19 cases from Jan 1

The Health Ministry has urged the public to abide SOPs against Covid-19, including the restrictions on interstate travel.

It stressed that interstate travel restriction is one of the measures needed to reduce coronavirus numbers.

3,170 interstate travel-related Covid-19 cases were reported in the country since the start of the year.

Interstate cases refers to cases of Covid-19 infection reported in one state but believed to originate from other states as a result of cross-state activities.

Lab tests carried out at a poultry farm which had its eggs rejected by Singapore for Salmonella enteritidis, has turned up negative for the bacteria.

As such, the Vet Department says it will hold discussions with Singapore officials on the matter and will enhance Salmonella monitoring in Malaysian poultry farms.

This comes after Singapore recalled two types of eggs imported from separate farms in Malaysia within a space of a week.

Indonesia is ready to roll out the Covid-19 vaccine made by British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca after a brief delay over blood clot concerns.

This comes following an approval by its drug regulator for its use after the European Medicines Agency said its benefits in preventing hospitalisations and deaths outweighed the risk of its side effects.

The EMA stressed the vaccine was not associated with an increase in the overall risk of blood clots.
