Malaysia’s supply of COVID-19 vaccines is expected to exceed the number of vaccine registrations by mid-year.

Minister in charge of the National Immunization Program, Khairy Jamaluddin says that at this rate, the county will have enough vaccines to cover 80% of the population by this October.

Currently, over one million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, while more than 8.6 million people have registered for the vaccine.

Those who receive the COVID-19 vaccine at private hospitals under the government’s immunisation plan, will be given the shot for free.

The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia says these facilities and the government will cover the cost of the vaccination.

Meanwhile, it hopes they will soon be able to buy their own supply of the vaccine, to ensure more people are immunized against the coronavirus.
