MOH detects 17 cases of South African Covid-19 variant

The Health Ministry has detected 17 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases of a South African variant.
The variant was first found on two employees from a company based at KLIA last month, as well on a case each from a cluster and close contact screening.
The Ministry also detected two UK variants from screening at the international entry points.
Local councils have been given the authority to issue compounds to those who breach Covid-19 SOPs at Ramadan bazaars.
Putrajaya said this, following reports of large crowds at such bazaars over the last two days.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms in most parts of the west coast of the peninsula is expected to continue for a few days more.
Officials say the bad weather is not an extreme phenomenon adding that these conditions are due to the monsoon transition phase.
