Apr 20, 2021
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force has assured that Covid-19 vaccines have been effective.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin clarified this, following reported cases of health workers who tested positive for Covid-19 after being fully vaccinated.
"0.003% of medical frontliners who have been fully vaccinated with two doses and tested positive for Covid-19 and from what I know, Dr Adham can confirm out of these 9 cases none of them have severe or even mild symptoms they just tested positive for Covid-19. Which means the vaccine works.”
So far, some 272,000 frontliners had received the second dose of vaccine jabs.
Malaysia reported 2,078 Covid-19 cases yesterday, along with 8 fatalities.
Sarawak continues to register the highest number of daily infections with 589, followed by Selangor.
This is the fifth straight day that daily cases remained above 2,000.
All schools, kindergartens and childcare centres within Sarawak's Covid red zones will be closed for 14 days starting today, due to a spike in coronavirus cases in the state.
Essential services will need permission to cross zones, and businesses in red zones must close by 10pm.
Meanwhile, 19 schools in the Petaling district have been ordered to close temporarily after 27 Covid-19 cases were detected.
