2,340 new COVID-19 cases were reported today.

The Health Ministry says Selangor had the highest number of new infections, at 526, followed by Sarawak and Kelantan.

The death toll rose by 11 to 1,400

Experts: Help persuade the elderly to register for vaccination

Medical experts say the rate of vaccine registrations among the elderly is still low.. as only half of the targeted group of 3.8 million senior citizens have so far signed up.

As such, they told FMT that members of the public should do their part to persuade the elderly to get themselves registered. 

Phase 2 of the immunisation programme, targeting the elderly, the disabled and those with chronic diseases kicked off on Monday.

Perak college students' compound reduced

another day of 2,000-plus new covid-19 cases

Perak health authorities have reduced the 1,500 ringgit compound issued to several students at a matriculation college there, for not following COVID-19 SOPs at an on-campus cafe. 

The college's management has since lodged an appeal to further reduce the penalty, as the affected students are from underprivileged families, who cannot afford to pay even the discounted compound.

Many on social media had questioned the fines, as the students had been confined to the campus for the past 5 months due to the pandemic.
