over 2k new covid-19 cases for 9th straight day

Malaysia has reported over 2,000 new COVID-19 cases for a ninth consecutive day. 

The Health Ministry recorded 2,847 infections, with Selangor, Sarawak, and Kelantan having the most cases.

Perlis is the only state with no infections.

Meanwhile, eight more patients died due to the virus, raising the death toll to 1,415.

NUTP: COVID-19 close contact teachers should get special leave

The government has been urged to consider allowing teachers, who've come into close contact with COVID-19 cases, to take special leave to undergo self-quarantine.

The National Union of the Teaching Profession says currently, authorities are slow to issue quarantine orders due to a spike in infections.

As such, some teachers are forced to take unrecorded leave before receiving the order.

Sarawak given green light to buy own COVID-19 vaccines

over 2k new covid-19 cases for 9th straight day

Sarawak has been granted approval to obtain their own supply of COVID-19 vaccines.

The state Deputy Chief Minister says it will be used as a reserve should any issues occur with the Federal Government's vaccine supply.

Meanwhile, he says Sarawak is planning to set up its own COVID-19 registration system.

It's to help residents in rural areas who do not have access to digital devices.
