Malaysia’s borders will remain closed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the government faced difficulty in making considerations regarding this issue, despite appeals from various parties.

He also explained that interstate travel is still not allowed because it is a contributing factor to the spread of the coronavirus.

Selangor, KL, Johor, Penang and Sarawak will remain under the Conditional MCO, while all districts in Kelantan will still be under a Movement Control Order.

Sabah, which was under RMCO, will be placed under the conditional MCO, following the increase of red zones in the state.

Putrajaya says the Recovery MCO will continue to be enforced in the remaining states and territories.

The order will be in effect until May 17th.
