New COVID-19 cases could reach 5k soon

Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 cases could reach 5,000 by mid this month.
This, as the Health Ministry reported 4,765 new infections today.
Selangor alone accounted for 2,082 cases, while 540 infections were in KL, and Sarawak had 405 cases.
Meanwhile, 39 patients succumbed to the virurs, raising the death toll to 1,761.

Some one million people would be out of work had the government decided to close economic sectors during the nationwide Movement Control Order.
The Finance Ministry adds that almost three million people working in SMEs would be greatly affected by a drastic loss of income.
It also says that private businesses would have to delay investments and workers' pay.
Its comments come amid criticism from some quarters against the government's decision to allow economic sectors to operate amid the Movement Control Order.

Teacher accused of making rape jokes transferred to Selangor Education Department
A teacher who allegedly made rape jokes recently has been transferred to the Selangor Education Department, while awaiting police investigation.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry says the school's principal has denied posting an offensive comment on the student who reported the teacher.
The principal claims her social media account was hacked.
