Jun 04, 2021

govt considers legal action against antivax groups

The government is considering taking legal action against groups who encourage others to reject the COVID-19 vaccine.

PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says these groups could jeopardise the government's plans of immunising 80% of the population to achieve herd immunity against the coronavirus.

He adds that he has also directed vaccine authorities to look into the possibility of making vaccinations compulsory.

More roadblocks could be mounted, especially in KL and Selangor, as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus.

The Home Ministry says it's because there are still many motorists on the road despite the country currently under a total lockdown.

It says the matter is being discussed with the relevant authorities, adding that up to a thousand more roadblocks could be set up nationwide.
