Cases due to sporadic infections, not from workplace
Most of the country's COVID-19 cases this year were due to sporadic infections, and not from workplace clusters.
The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers was responding to ongoing allegations that factories are the main cause of cases.
It says according to Health Ministry data, sporadic infections accounted for almost 70% of cases reported this year.

Local authorities have no power to close factories
Local authorities in Selangor have no power to order factories to close, in a bid to tackle the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
State authorities say it is because the matter is under the jurisdiction of the Federal government.
They explained that local authorities are only allowed to enforce certain laws, adding that they are only empowered to revoke operating licenses.
