Malaysia has hit another grim milestone, after we reported a record breaking 20,596 new COVID-19 cases today.

According to the Health Ministry, more than half of the total was detected in the Klang Valley.

Several states also had four-digit infections including Kedah, Johor, and Penang.

SOP exemptions to be announced soon

An announcement will be made soon regarding details on certain SOP exemptions for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the matter could be announced as early as tomorrow.

Among others, fully immunised residents could be allowed to cross state and district borders, as well as dine-in at restaurants.

PH Presidential Council calls for special Parliament sitting next week

The Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council wants a special parliamentary sitting to be held next Monday, to decide a vote of no confidence against the PM.

It rubbished Tan Sri Muhyidddin Yassin's claim that he still enjoyed majority support among lawmakers.

Yesterday, Tan Sri Muhyiddin announced that he will call a confidence vote at the Dewan Rakyat in September.

This, after UMNO withdrew its support for the Perikatan Nasional government.
