Schools will reopen in stages from Oct 3
Aug 16, 2021
The reopening of schools, which was initially scheduled for September 1st, will be delayed.
Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin says schools will resume classes in stages from Oct 3, involving exam year students first.
However, the reopening will not involve schools in states under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.
This affects Kedah, Selangor, KL, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
Starting today, 11 types of economic activities can reopen for the fully vaccinated in areas still under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.
They include barbershops and hair salons, car wash centres, electrical shops, fashion retail outlets, and furniture shops.
Public recreation parks in states under Phase 1 are also allowed to re-open.
Malaysia is on track to achieve its target of getting 50% of its adult population fully vaccinated this month.
Khairy Jamaluddin says the vaccination drive started to show early positive results with the programme administering 12 million doses of vaccines in July alone.
The Immunisation programme Minister adds that they have also achieved the target of ensuring 100% of adults in the Klang Valley receiving at least a single dose.
