Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 cases hit an all-time high, after we reported 22,948 infections today.

The bulk of the total was detected in Selangor, while Sabah had the second most cases, ahead of Kedah.

Several states including Penang, Johor, and Sarawak also recorded 4-digit infections.

Dine-in to be allowed in Phase 1 areas

Starting tomorrow, those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in areas under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan will be allowed to enjoy additional SOP exemptions.

Caretaker PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says among others, this includes dining in at restaurants while following strict guidelines.

Non-contact outdoor sports will also be allowed including jogging, cycling, and skateboarding

Immunisation Program hits target to fully vaccinate 50% of adult population

The National COVID-19 Immunisation Program has reached its target of fully vaccinating half of the adult population this month.

Over 11.7 million people have now completed both doses of the vaccine, while some 17 million have been given their first shot.

Meanwhile, over 530,000 people were given the jab yesterday.

It’s the third consecutive day that daily vaccinations crossed the half a million mark.
