Vaccine effectiveness drops after time

Nov 13, 2021

vaccine effectiveness drops after time

Completing two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine is effective to strengthen our immunity against the coronavirus.

However, studies have shown that immunity levels will dip after around five months of getting the injection.

According to the Institute of Clinical Research, the effectiveness of the Pfizer jab dropped to 68%, while Sinovac dropped to some 28%.

Because of this, the Health Ministry wants more Malaysians to take their booster shots.

Those using COVID-19 self-test kits have been reminded to report their results on MySejahtera.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says updates or registrations on the app are still low, even though some five million kits have been sold

He adds that authorities are studying the use of barcodes for self-test kits, to ease the process of updating results on MySejahtera.

Melaka police have denied compounding an individual RM4,000 for wearing a political party logo.

Cops say the man was taking part in a walkabout ahead of the state election there, which is not allowed under COVID-19 SOPs.

Earlier, Pakatan Harapan's Fahmi Fadzil slammed authorities for the compound, which went viral on social media.
