Don't go intentionally getting infected by Omicron

There is no proof that contracting the COVID-19 Omicron variant can help build herd immunity.
The Health Minister says even though Omicron is milder compared to previous strains, this does not mean people should voluntarily get themselves infected.
Khairy Jamaluddin says the same goes to other variants such as Delta, Beta, and Alpha.
Instead, people are reminded to get their booster shot.
He was responding to an international report, claiming Omicron infection can help build herd immunity due to its high transmissibility.

KKM expects rise in COVID-19 cases
Daily COVID-19 infections in the country are expected to rise in the coming months.
The Health Minister says its due to an increase in public movement during the recent holidays, and upcoming celebrations.
However, he assured that the situation is under control, so long as hospital and ICU admissions are manageable, and the death rate continues to dip.
Meanwhile, Khairy Jamaluddin says Malaysia has made significant progress in managing the pandemic, thanks to our high vaccination rate.
Because of this, upcoming celebrations can go ahead subject to strict SOPs.

Muhyiddin: Fight against COVID-19 was worse than war
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin described the fight against the coronavirus as worse than war.
The former PM says it was the first time that laws relating to a state of emergency were invoked to fight a pandemic.
He adds that enforcing the MCO was necessary, despite costing Malaysia RM2.6 billion a day.
The National Recovery Council chairman says the question now is whether countries will return to life before the pandemic, or use it as a chance to push Asia to a higher rank among developed nations.
