Small fraction of vax recipients reported AEFIs
Feb 23, 2022
Only a VERY small fraction of COVID-19 vaccine recipients have suffered adverse side effects.
The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, says out of over 65 MILLION vaccine doses administered to date, only 25 thousand of them suffered such reactions.
This is around 0.03% of the total.
The vast majority of these side effects were not considered serious cases.
As for children under the PICKids programme, its director Dr Roshayati Mohamad Sani says 38 cases were reported as of last week, and only one of them was considered serious.
They account for 0.1 out of every 1 thousand doses.
Some 615 thousand 5-11 year olds have so far received their first dose.

Schools can choose to have PdPR
The Education Ministry has given schools the option to return to home-based teaching and learning for students not sitting for major exams.
Its deputy minister says they can do so if COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
He adds that for now, the ministry's focus is on students sitting for the SPM and STPM exams.
On another note, he says the Education Minister will soon make an announcement on the fate of this year's PT3 form three assessment.
This, amid a call by the National Union of the Teaching Profession to postpone or shelve the assessment, due to class disruptions caused by the pandemic.
