Health groups welcome task force to probe houseman's death

The Malaysian Health Coalition has welcomed the government’s move to form an independent task force to investigate the death of a trainee doctor recently.

It says health professionals must be made aware of available resources for them to seek support adding that their feedback must be investigated without fear of repercussion.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Medical Association is also supportive of the task force.

It told the NST it hopes the task force will look into the entire training system, as well as the causes of stress experienced by other health sector workers.

Earlier, the Health Ministry said it will set up a special task force to force to probe the death of a houseman at Penang Hospital last month and the alleged culture of bullying at the hospital.

Daily COVID-19 cases rise slightly to 1.3K

Daily COVID-19 infections rose slightly to 1,372 yesterday, which is over a hundred cases more than the previous day.

Another 3 fatalities were reported nationwide, however none were brought-in-dead cases.

Meanwhile, recoveries stood at over 3,000.

Malaysians urged to be wary of job offers abroad

The government has urged Malaysians, especially youths, to be cautious of job offers abroad to avoid being duped by job scam syndicates.

The Foreign Ministry says those in need of information to verify the authenticity of such offers can seek help from the Malaysian embassy in the respective countries, and other relevant authorities.

This comes after 16 Malaysians arrived home last month, after allegedly falling victim to a job scam syndicate in Cambodia.
