Cops to beef up border control after Thailand legalises ganja

Police will continue to beef up their surveillance along Malaysia’s border with Thailand.
Bukit Aman says this is after Thailand recently became the first Asian country to legalise the cultivation and possession of marijuana.
It’s concerned that the move will make it easier for smugglers to smuggle cannabis into Malaysia.
The authorities had busted an attempt to smuggle 860 kilograms of the drug from Thailand on Saturday.

Traders reminded to be patient towards customers
Traders have been reminded to behave ethically and be patient towards customers.
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry says the pressure being faced by traders due to the rising cost of goods is NOT an excuse to act rudely.
It was responding to a viral video in which a customer was allegedly being scolded by restaurant workers in Melaka.
It’s believed the customer was being scolded for advising the workers to be more polite.
The restaurant owner has since apologised.

HR Ministry to introduce new ID card system for foreign workers
The HR Ministry will introduce a new identity card system according to sector for foreign workers.
It's to address the issue of foreign workers who had reportedly switched to other sectors arbitrarily.
It says some workers made the switch to the plantation sector for more pay, due to the increase in oil palm prices.
This comes after the Works Ministry recently said workers switching to the plantation sector has affected the construction sector, causing a labour shortage.
