The government has assured it will work to keep the inflation rate in Malaysia low and manageable, to ensure the wellbeing of the people.

It says its newly set up task force will not only focus on the price of chicken, eggs, and cooking oil, but all prices of goods and services that could contribute to the increase in the inflation rate.

Meanwhile, the government says fake news alleging the supply of one-kilogram subsidised cooking oil will be stopped from tomorrow has caused people to panic buy, resulting in a shortage of cooking oil in the market.

It says it will look into which areas in the civil service are suitable to implement a four-day work week, as well as daily working hours, among others.

This comes after a survey recently found that 62% of workers in Malaysia prefer flexible work, compared to less than half of workers who opted for a shorter work week.
