MACC denies trying to pay Wan Saiful to flip on his boss

The MACC has strongly rejected claims that it had offered 10 million ringgit for Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan to implicate Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a corruption case.

The freelance researcher who made the accusation is reported to have since issued an apology, and claims to have mis-spoken.

The MACC, however, says its pursing further action against the individual.

This comes after Wan Saiful was yesterday charged with receiving nearly 7 million ringgit in bribes in connection to the Jana Wibawa initiative.

Another former Prime Minister has joined the call, for the government to consider another round of EPF withdrawals.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says a study should at least be carried out, to see how targeted withdrawals can be offered to qualified contributors who are truly in need.

He says there are many out there who are still struggling to pay off their debts…who may even end up bankrupt by the time they reach retirement.

This, after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin recently repeated the call for EPF contributors to be allowed to dip into their savings, despite the government staying firm on not allowing any more withdrawals.

The Health Ministry plans on re-tabling the Control of Tobacco Products and Smoking Bill soon, so that enforcement can begin next year.

The Bill had been tabled for first and second readings last year, but was then referred to the Special Select Committee for review, before being delayed due to the dissolution of parliament last October.

Prasarana, together with a transportation company, are conducting a pilot project for a van-hailing service to provide better connectivity between residential areas and public transport stations.

Meanwhile, the transport operator says that work on phase two of the Putrajaya MRT line is more than 95 percent complete, with final tests to be carried out later this month.
