Earlier Duit Raya For Civil Servants

The government has agreed to speed up the payment of the Aidilfitri Special Aid for civil servants and retirees. 

According to a Public Service Department circular, the payment will now be made this Friday, April 14th

The earlier payment is to help them make preparations for the festive period. 

Public servants of grades 56 and below will receive 700 ringgit, while retirees will receive 350 ringgit.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah is reportedly set to retire on April 21st. 

According to The Star, that’s when he turns 60, the mandatory retirement age for government servants.

Speaking of which, the Malaysian Employers Federation says it’s against calls to raise the mandatory retirement age to 65.

The MEFclaims it will only worsen the problem of youth unemployment.
