Basikal Lajak Case: Sam Ke Ting Freed

Sam Ke Ting, the clerk involved in the 2017 Basikal Lajak case is now a free woman.
This is after the Court of Appeal overturned a lower court’s decision, which convicted her of reckless driving, and sentenced her to a 6-year jail term and a fine.
It unanimously ruled that her charge and conviction were defective.
Sam went on trial over the deaths of eight teenagers, who were riding modified bicycles in Johor Bahru.

The Petaling Jaya City Council says no action will be taken against the officers involved in an altercation with an elderly man last month.
Its internal investigation ruled that the elderly man was hit “unintentionally” during the stray dog catching operation.
However, the council says it will improve its SOPs for similar operations going forward.

KL police have wrapped up investigations into allegations that a Chinese national was extorted by a cop, after she failed to produce her passport during a recent roadblock.
The investigation paper has been sent to the Attorney General’s chambers for further action.
