Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali will temporarily take over the role of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister.

The current Minister in the PM’s Department will fill in for the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who passed away earlier this month.

The Prime Minister says he needs more time to appoint a permanent replacement, who will likely be announced after the state elections.

Meanwhile, the PM adds that the government has allocated an additional 50 million ringgit to expand the successful Rahmah initiative, which was Datuk Seri Salahuddin’s brainchild.

This, as over 70 percent of respondents to an Astro Radio News survey felt that whoever takes over, should continue implementing the Rahmah initiative.

The MACC chief says there was no element of corruption, in the government awarding grants for the youth in Terengganu.

Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki says the grants are a government initiative, and not a form of vote-buying ahead of the state elections.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also defended the grants, saying they are a part of the government’s ongoing efforts to help the rakyat, that had already been approved earlier.

This comes following accusations that the announcement of the grants could be construed as a form of vote-buying.

The Civil Aviation Authority has opened an investigation into the illegal use of drones in four separate cases during nomination day over the weekend.

One incident saw a drone crash and injure a civilian.

10 thousand of the over 30 thousand SPM candidates who did not sit for last year’ exam, have registered to re-sit the examination this year.

This is thanks to various intervention programs by the Education Ministry, including extending the registration period for private candidates.
