No Official Boycott Policy

The government has no official policy regarding the boycotting of certain goods.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh says it is up to consumers to decide whether to avoid certain products or companies.

She said this in response to attempts by some quarters to get the government to boycott companies associated with Israel, amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Fuziah also explained that a majority of foreign brands here are owned by local companies, through the franchise concept.

Online crime is up over 20 percent in the first nine months of the year, from the same period in 2022.

The Communications and Digital Ministry says Cyber Security Malaysia’s help center alone managed to record over 4,800 cases, with online fraud topping the list of complaints.

The number of flood evacuees in Perak has declined slightly, to just under 230 as of last night.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s portal, there were also around 100 victims in Kedah…and 29 in Perlis.

Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Department plans to spend around 200 million ringgit to build air bases in various parts of the country…to further improve its emergency response.

The new air bases are set to be built in the east coast and south of the peninsular…as well as Sabah and Sarawak.
