Govt To Subsidise Xmas Flights

Dec 15, 2023

govt to subsidise xmas flights

People flying from the Peninsular to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan in the run-up to Christmas will enjoy subsidised tickets prices for selected flights.

The Transport Minister says it involves economy class flight tickets that cost more than RM599, for flights happening on the 22nd to the 24th.

This means if a flight ticket costs 600 ringgit or more, passengers will pay 599 ringgit and the government will cover the balance.

A similar subsidy will be implemented next year, for Chinese New Year, Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai and Christmas.

The first-ever person to be charged under Malaysia's new anti-stalking law has changed his plea to guilty.

This comes months after he claimed trial to stalking and harassing a female photographer, when he was first charged back in August.

He was then referred to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Sentencing is expected to take place next week.

Under the law which was passed earlier this year, anyone convicted of physical or online stalking is liable to a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a fine.

The PM says there is no need to amend the Federal Constitution to ensure that only a Malay can become Prime Minister.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also said it's more important for the government to ensure the rights of everyone regardless of background.
