Who Gets Higher Electricity Bills Next Year?

Dec 23, 2023

who gets higher electricity bills next year?

The Energy Commission says 85% of domestic electricity users will NOT be impacted by the new electricity tariffs, which will come into effect on January 1st.

However, those whose who have a current monthly bill of at least RM220 will see an increase of between 4 to 6%

Because of this, analysts believe the new tariff will only have a minimal impact on our cost of living, as well as inflation.

Meanwhile, consumer groups have called for more incentives to encourage energy-saving practices.

FOMCA says this includes the continuation of the SAVE 4.0 programme, which offers rebates for the purchase of energy-efficient appliances.

He told the NST the government should also step up efforts to raise awareness about efficient electricity use.

PLUS Malaysia has reminded that the free tolls given for the year-end holiday rush will end tonight, at 11:59 p.m.

The highway concessionaire says the free tolls are only given when you exit the highway at the toll plaza.

This means if you arrive at your intended exit after 11.59, you will be charged toll as per usual.

PLUS says in this case, you should exit at the nearest toll plaza to enjoy the toll waiver.
