Cash Aid For Flood Victims

Dec 28, 2023

cash aid for flood victims

The PM has announced financial assistance for families affected by this year's monsoon floods.

According to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this includes an initial aid of 1 thousand ringgit for each family.

This falls under a 50-million-ringgit allocation under the National Disaster Management Agency, Nadma.

Meanwhile further assistance will be given once waters subside.

Datuk Seri Anwar said this post-flood aid will be important, as some families have suffered heavy losses, after being hit by floods for a third time.

He said this during his visit to Kelantan, where some 20 thousand people are currently housed at flood relief centres.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Anwar says the federal government has approved a 6 million ringgit allocation to build three temporary embankments in Rantau Panjang.

They will replace an embankment that collapsed there recently.

Besides Kelantan's 20 thousand flood victims, there are a further 4 thousand evacuees in Terengganu.

Also, close to 160 are displaced in Pahang, and 120 in Johor.
