Will School Bus Fares Go Up?

Jan 15, 2024

will school bus fares go up?

Parents may have to pay higher school bus fares for the new school term that starts in March.

The Federation of School Bus Associations says it could happen, due to higher maintenance and operating costs, including the implementation of minimum wage.

The association says for the Klang Valley, fares could go up by RM10 to RM20 a month.

However, exact amount will be determined by respective school bus operators.

The Law and Institutional Reform Minister says the proposed law to set a fixed parliamentary term is meant to ensure political stability.

Datuk Seri Azalina Othman adds that the government will conduct an in-depth study on the proposal before moving forward.

It will also get feedback from members of the public.

Meanwhile, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil says such legislation is not unusual, as countries like the UK also have fixed-term parliament laws.
