Heavy Downpour Triggers Flash Floods

The Social Welfare Department’s portal says nearly 400 people had to be evacuated due to flooding in parts of Kuala Selangor and Shah Alam.
There were also some 46 flood victims in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan…and a further 50 evacuees in Alor Gajah, Melaka.

Meanwhile, the water level at the Binjai river in Klang, Selangor has risen past the danger mark.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department says the level remains on an upward trend…following heavy rain in and around the area this morning.
Two other rivers – in Klang and Damansara respectively – have also exceeded the warning level this morning.

Parents are urged to lodge reports, if schools insist on holding outdoor activities even when the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius.
The Education Ministry says there are strict guidelines regarding hot weather, that must be followed by all parties.
However, it says its not received any complaints on the matter so far.
