why did 10,000 students skip spm?

Around 10 thousand 2023 SPM candidates failed to turn up for the exam. 

Education Director General, Azman Adnan says his ministry will look into the matter, and take the necessary interventions to ensure better attendance for future exams..  

Meanwhile Selangor's Education Department says around 1,700 SPM candidates in the state were absent from the 2023 exam.  

The main reasons include dropping out of school, death, and being in police custody.

The Home Minister has defended the use of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act, or SOSMA in the ongoing probe into the Ulu Tiram police station attack.  

He says it was due to the magnitude of the incident,  

It will also give cops more time to conduct a thorough investigation.  

Authorities recently said that 5 relatives of the Ulu Tiram attacker were rearrested under SOSMA after their initial remand periods expired.  

Meanwhile, the policeman who was injured in the Ulu Tiram police station attack has been discharged from hospital, and is continuing his recovery at home.

Kuala Krai, Kelantan was under a heatwave today, after the area experienced temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius.  

22 other areas in Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Sabah were under a Level-1 Heat Alert, with temperatures hitting 37 degrees.

And reports say that 7 vehicles have been damaged at a parking lot near KL's Jalan Klang Lama, after a heavy storm uprooted a large tree.
