Amendments To Child Act To Be Tabled Soon

Proposed amendments to the Child Act should be tabled in Parliament soon.
The Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry says they're finalizing the details, with the bill likely to be tabled by the end of this year or early next year.
It says this will help provide comprehensive regulations to govern key issues involving kids.
It will also help the Child Development Department stand on its own, independent of the Social Welfare Department.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry has assured that its proposed online ambassador scheme will not cost money.
It explained that the initiative – which aims to share accurate information about its policies with the public - will be manned by volunteers from within the ministry.

In a related development, the Communications Minister says he'll soon take a detailed look at the online ambassador plan to avoid any overlap with existing government communication channels.

Consumer groups are urging the public to lodge reports if traders refuse to comply with the government's directive to reduce egg prices.
The Malaysia Consumer Movement told the NST that traders have a responsibility to abide by the new price.
Meanwhile, FOMCA is also urging the government to conduct inspections to address supply shortages in certain areas.
