EC To Meet To Discuss Nenggiri By Election

The Election Commission will hold a special meeting next Friday, to discuss the Nenggiri by-election in Kelantan.

The commission also confirmed that it's already received an official notification from the state speaker about the vacancy.

The state seat was declared vacant, after its incumbent lost his membership in Bersatu for declaring his support for the Prime Minister.

One hundred thousand applications for the targeted diesel subsidy cash aid have been approved so far.

The government says nearly 80 thousand of these applicants have already received the money.

Meanwhile, the remaining applicants who apply before the end of June will receive the aid next month.

The proposed law to protect senior citizens cannot be rushed.

The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry says it needs time to draft a comprehensive bill to avoid frequent amendments.

It told the NST that it's committed to addressing the needs of our ageing population, but many issues need to be discussed first, before the law becomes reality

Malaysia and China have agreed to jointly nominate the lion dance for inclusion in UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage List.

This was announced in conjunction with Chinese Premier Li Qiang's official three-day visit to Malaysia, to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
