Improved SPM Results Last Year

Malaysia’s SPM results have improved. 

The Education Ministry says over 60% of SPM candidates passed all their subjects last year, which is an increase compared to just over 57% the year before. 

This is the country’s best results in over a decade. 

Meanwhile, more than 93% of candidates were eligible to receive their SPM certificates, which is also slightly higher than in 2022.

The Health Ministry says proposed amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act could see those who break the law, fined up to five thousand ringgit.

Previously, during the COVID19 pandemic, offenders were only hit with a one thousand ringgit fine.

The Transport Ministry says the government will be stepping up supportive policies and measures, to continue encouraging the use of electric vehicles.

This, as part of the government’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions to eventually reach net-zero emissions.

Police say 14 roads around Istana Negara will be closed on Saturday for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s installation ceremony.  

Cops add that the closure will be conducted in stages, but still advised motorists to use alternate routes to avoid any traffic congestion.

And in the US, the Republican party has officially nominated Donald Trump as their Presidential election candidate.

Meanwhile, the former president also named Ohio senator JD Vance as his running mate and possible Vice-President.
