Kids Could Face Social Media Ban

Aug 11, 2024

kids could face social media ban

The government may block children aged 13 and below from registering for social media accounts.

The Communications Ministry says this is being considered as part of the new licensing rules for social media platforms.

According to its minister, it’s to help protect kids from the threat of paedophiles.

He adds that currently, social media platforms are not doing enough to prevent young children from using their services.

The teenager who was detained for allegedly impersonating staff at a Serdang hospital will be given a psychiatric evaluation.

The Selangor police chief says this is after initial investigations found that the 14-year-old girl may have mental health issues.

She’s being investigated for trespassing and impersonating a public official.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry says it’s still waiting for a full report on the case, including whether the girl is still in school.

Anti-drone technology will be installed at all jails nationwide.

The Prisons Dept says it’s to prevent the smuggling of contraband into our detention facilities.

This is after the department foiled a drone’s attempt to fly drugs into a prison in Tapah, Perak.

It’s believed to be the first attempt of its kind in Malaysia.
