Aug 13, 2024

stay vigilant against phone and parcel scams

Malaysians were duped out of over 505 million ringgit from phone scam cases since 2021.

Of that number, 30 million was lost to perpetrators impersonating courier company staff.

Bukit Aman’s CCID director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf explained that the figures are a clear indication that phone and parcel scams need to be taken more seriously.

He also reminded that courier companies will never ask customers for payment to release parcels.

The Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry is asking the public to help the government tackle child delinquency.

It explains that the problem cannot be solved by the authorities alone, and that all communities, especially families, have a part to play.

It was addressing the recent cases where a 12-year-old took a car for a joyride and another teenager impersonated a medical worker.

Kelantan police will record the statements of 11 individuals, regarding a recent incident that claimed the life of a 15-month-old baby.

The toddler was killed after a three-wheeled motorcycle she was on – which was operated by a 12-year-old boy - fell into an irrigation canal.

British police have arrested a man after he stabbed an 11-year-old girl and her mother in central London.

Authorities are still investigating the motive for the attack...but they do not believe it was related to terrorism.

The latest incident comes exactly two weeks after an earlier stabbing in Southport that claimed the lives of three girls.
