IGP: 13 Care Home Children Suffered Sex Abuse
Sep 13, 2024
At least 13 of the 400 children rescued from the charity homes raided in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan apparently showed signs of sexual abuse.
According to IGP Tan Sri Razaruddin Hussain, checks also revealed that several of the rescued children were either disabled or autistic, and they've been handed over to the Social Welfare Department.
The homes were allegedly linked to a company accused of having ties with a banned religious movement.
Meanwhile, the IGP says cops have not ruled out the possibility of questioning the company’s top management over the case.
This, as the PM called for a speedy investigation into the homes.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says it’s a serious issue that must be dealt with quickly.
Also, SUKAHAM has called for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the care homes.
Its Child Commissioner says the findings of such an RCI should be used as a basis for institutional reforms and help create a more holistic protection system for children.
