Sep 19, 2024

gisb ceo, 18 others remanded

19 people have been remanded for a week, as part of the ongoing police probe into GISB.

They include the company’s CEO and other members of its top management.

This, following the recent raids on 20 GISB-linked welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

Cops rescued 400 children who were allegedly victims of exploitation and abuse, including sexual abuse.

--

Separately, three people linked to GISB have been charged at a court in Seremban, on 14 counts of sexual assault on children.

The teaching assistants allegedly committed the offences at a religious school in Kuala Pilah.

Around 5 thousand people are currently affected by the floods up north.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s disaster portal, some 4,200 people are currently at temporary shelters in Kedah.

Households affected by the floods in Kedah will receive RM1,000 in financial assistance.

They will receive another RM1,000 from the Federal Government, through Nadma.

Meanwhile there are more than 700 flood evacuees in Penang and Perlis.

Another 80 flood victims are displaced in Kuala Selangor.

The DPM says the government will explore several long-term measures to care for trees, especially older ones.

This includes efforts to maintain such trees without cutting them down.

This, as the Fire and Rescue Department says it received over 2,500 reports of fallen trees in the first 7 months of the year.

Meanwhile there have been multiple reports of uprooted trees over the past few days, following heavy storms and strong winds.
