GISB Probe: More Arrests Made

Sep 23, 2024

gisb probe: more arrests made

Police have announced more arrests, in the latest phase of their probe into alleged exploitation and abuse involving GISB-linked premises.

IGP Tan Sri Razarudin Husain says cops also rescued over 180 more victims, following raids on hundreds of raids across the peninsular.

He adds that so far, the Social Welfare Dept has opened 11 safehouses for all the victims, including those who were rescued following previous raids in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry will take over the education of the rescued children starting next month.

Minister, Fadhlina Sidek says for now, they are being assessed for things like basic reading, writing and math skills, because many of them do NOT have a proper education.

She adds the ministry may take action against their parents, for failing to provide the kids with a formal education as required under the law.

--

MetMalaysia says a thunderstorm alert is in place until 8PM tonight for the entire Peninsular Malaysia EXCEPT for Melaka.

A similar alert is in place for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

Meanwhile, around 7,300 people are currently housed at temporary flood shelters in Kedah and Perak.
