The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has surged overnight.

According to the Social Welfare Department's portal, there are now nearly 3,600 people at relief shelters there.

Around 570 victims are in Perlis, while around 300 have been displaced in Perak and Johor combined.

Meanwhile, all victims in Selangor and Melaka have been allowed to return home after flood waters receded.

The Health Ministry has reminded food premises of their responsibility to follow Food Hygiene Regulations.

This includes ensuring all their staff are up to date with their training and vaccinations.

Food operators also need to ensure that equipment is cleaned using clean water sources and that raw materials are stored in a safe place at the correct temperature.

The reminder came in the wake of several viral incidents, including one where a restaurant worker allegedly cleaned a pot with a broom.

KTMB has announced that it'll provide two additional ETS train services for the KL Sentral to Padang Besar route in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali holidays.

The extra services will operate from October 30th to November 3rd.

Officials are warning residents in Penang, especially those in coastal areas or near rivers, to remain vigilant due to the high tide phenomenon that's expected to hit the state from October 18th to the 21st.

The Transport Ministry says the progress of the East Coast Rail Link project has reached nearly 73% as of September.

This means the project is on track for its December 2026 completion.
