Nov 03, 2024

tougher cyberbullying laws coming soon

A bill to introduce stricter laws to tackle cyberbullying, will be tabled at the coming sitting of Parliament.

The Prime Minister says the matter needs to be addressed urgently, due to a recent increase in cases.

He adds that cyberbullying cannot be taken lightly…due to its adverse psychological effects on the victims.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim adds that he will also direct agencies like the MCMC and police to not compromise on the matter.

Separately, police have recorded a statement from a suspect, believed to be involved in the bullying and abuse of a junior UPNM cadet.

Cops have also taken a statement from the victim’s roommate...although no arrests have been made so far.

The Public Service Commission has seen a surge in applications for civil service jobs…with over 1.1 million submissions recorded as of September.

Its also expecting the upward trend to continue until the end of the year.
