Five Day Work Week Stays

The four-day and a half day work week won’t be coming to Malaysia anytime soon.
The Chief Secretary to the government says there are currently no plans to implement the arrangement at the federal level yet.
He says the government will review the proposal announced by the Johor state government for its implementation at the state level first.

The Higher Education Ministry has denied allegations of discrimination against Indian students in tertiary education enrolment.
It assured that student admissions are fair, if students meet the necessary criteria.
For example, those that achieve straight A’s in all subjects will be offered a place.
It also explained that critical fields such as medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry are highly competitive.
Thousands of students apply but the seats available are limited, such as medicine, where there are only 700 spots.

The Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry has launched the new National Children’s Policy.
The new policy will focus on protecting children from violence, exploitation, and neglect.
The ministry adds that the policy will also focus on helping children in physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects.
