Banks Assisting Flood Victims

Banks have extended various forms of assistance programs for those affected by the ongoing flooding.
The Association of Banks in Malaysia says this includes deferring loan repayments, and waiving fees to replace lost or damaged documents.
It says detailed information can be obtained on the websites and official social media channels of the respective banks.

This, as the flood situation nationwide continued to improve.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s portal…there are around 65 thousand evacuees across Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Johor, Melaka, Perak and Pahang as of this morning.

In a related development, TNB has shut down electrical substations in several flood-affected areas to prevent electricity-related mishaps.
The company, however, has provided mobile generators to ensure continuous supply of power at flood relief centers.

The Foreign Ministry says the situation in South Korea is back to normal, after a martial law order was briefly imposed in the country overnight.
However, its advising Malaysians there to take the usual safety precautions and to register on the E-konsular system to ensure timely updates and assistance.

This comes as South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol is facing calls to step down after u-turning on his earlier decision to impose martial law, after parliament voted down the measure.
He had claimed the martial law was to protect the country from pro-North Korean elements, although critics say it was desperate attempt to save his political career.
