No Child Social Media Ban For Now

The Communications Ministry says it has no plans at the moment to follow in Australia’s footsteps and ban under-16’s from using social media.
However, it adds that all social media platforms will continuously be reminded to strictly enforce their respective age limit for signups.
Separately, the Ministry says paedophillia and the sale of online pornography will be arrestable offences under planned amendments to the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Police will soon start searching for over a hundred individuals for making fake calls about flooding, mostly in Kelantan.
The Deputy IGP says his men will start tracking these people down once the disaster has ended.

The government has instructed all local authorities to gather data about the damage and losses incurred by homeowners and businesses amid the ongoing flooding.

In a related development, the government plans to set up nine permanent flood evacuation centers in high-risk states to limit the damage to schools, which are currently used to house flood victims.

The Foreign Ministry says all 42 registered Malaysians in Syria, including students, are safe, adding that it will continue to monitor the situation there.
This, as Syrian president Bashar Al Assad fled the country to seek asylum in Russia after rebel forces overthrew his government and took control of the capital Damascus.
