PM: Govt To Switch To Generic Meds

pm: task force will look into insurance premiums

The govt is taking efforts to keep medical inflation under control. 

According to PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the government wants to cancel the monopolies of some drug companies. 

It will them switch to more affordable generic medicines. 

The PM adds that Bank Negara and the Health Ministry will review and issue new guidelines regarding the proposal to raise insurance premiums. 

This, amid reports that medical insurance premiums could go up by 70% next year.

The Freedom of Information Act is expected to be tabled in Parliament by mid-next year.   

The govt previously said that such a law would enable Malaysians to access information from information from any ministries or government agencies.  

However, there will be exceptions for info on personal data, and matters that could threaten national security, defence and diplomatic relations.

MetMalaysia has issued a severe-level continuous rain alert for parts of Terengganu and Pahang until tomorrow.  

Meanwhile, Bukit Aman says cops are ready to deal with any eventuality amid the second wave of flooding that's expected to start this week.  

As of this evening, around 5,300 people were housed at temporary flood shelters in Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Johor and Perak.

The school academic sessions year-end final exams are NOT meant to determine whether a student has passed or failed.  

The Education Ministry told FMT that instead, the exams are meant to determine how well a student has mastered a subject or needs further guidance.  

It was responding to a social media post, claiming that the passing mark is just 20%.
